10,000 Games Delivered

Today is a moment to celebrate and share. A moment nearly two years in the making.

After spending a week printing and applying shipping labels to 27 pallets of boxes, last night 2,010 board game bundles from The Spiel Foundation started their journeys to Boys & Girls Clubs, libraries, shelters, hospitals, community centers, and schools across the United States, Canada, and beyond!

It took three separate trucks to collect all the packages, including a 53’ semi-trailer (all loaded by us) in the middle of an ice storm.

We have spent 21 months in constant effort toward this moment and are so happy and excited to deliver over 10,000 games to so many different, deserving, amazing organizations.

Each bundle is an invitation to play, a doorway to fun.

We believe the more we learn to play together, the better life can be for all involved.

We hope each bundle we send out into the world helps build a bigger game table where all are welcome and valued.

I wish I could travel along with each bundle as they scatter to big cities, small towns, and in some cases, across oceans. I wonder what adventures and fun each box will bring. I hope we hear back from some, if not all the recipients. I cant wait to see people playing!

In the coming days ahead, we will be posting detailed numbers about the scope of what we have done, but it’s important to take a beat and let this moment shine!

We also want to share this moment with all those who made it possible.

Thank you to our amazing sponsors over the past two years: Bezier Games, Czech Games Edition, HABA, and Greater Than Games. Their financial support provides much needed stability to our organization and allows us to set our goals higher and dream bigger with each passing year.

We have countless publishers to thank for donating games to our bundles. Those will come in a post to follow but special recognition to Ravensburger for their amazing generosity!

Thank you to the countless amazing individual donors who have helped us reach the momentous occasion.

Thank you to all the intrepid volunteers who have assisted us over the past 21 months. Special merit badges for Michael McMann, Max Michael and Allen Dove who devoted time and resources far above and beyond the call.

And special thanks to the amazing, patient, and lovely Francie Broadie, my partner-in-crime, who has supported this crazy dream from day one.

This is our largest and most ambitious project to date. But we’re just getting started!

Our sights are set on a permanent facility for The Spiel Foundation, the DeKoven Center for Play. We think within a year, those doors could be open!

We know there’s a thirst for what we have to offer. We want to keep going and growing and we’ll need your help to get there.

If you’d like to wander down the Playful Path with us, we’d welcome the company. Reach out and we will show you the way.
